Company Overview

A woman led startup decided to come up with a community for women of all backgrounds to celebrate their beauty, originality and passion for makeup. The idea was to build a first of its kind forum where people could not only shop but also share their experience and reviews about cosmetic products, learn from reviews of beauty influencers and find an array of leading makeup products.

The Requirement:

Team Origami was approached to devise a solution and translate this idea into reality and bring a mobile solution to life.

The Challenge

The vague generic idea had to be converted into a specific revenue generating business plan.

A joint platform had to be built which would bring 3 key players, the consumers, beauty influencers and cosmetic brands on one page. Plans had to be devised to incentivize joining Fabloox for all 3 key players.

Third party affiliate model was suggested to include branded cosmetic product availability on the app. This posed another challenge because the affiliates were inconsistent in their features and functionality. It was imperative to integrate them in a way that despite data coming from a variety of sources, a signature design theme was followed.

The user experience had to be kept visually delightful, simple and engaging.

The Solution

Wireframing and Prototyping:

With 3 key players to cater, mapping out the user journey was complex. Multiple wireframes were sketched in the initial phase to choose the most convenient UI for all three stakeholders. The client was kept in the loop throughout this process and with mutual consideration final prototypes were finalized.

The Best Of Makeup All In One Place:

Efficient and nimble search algorithms were formulated for brand and category specific products. A compilation of leading brands like Tarte, Elf, Becca, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Huda Beauty and many others was done to ensure an exciting shopping experience with ample variety.

Face Analysis Feature:

Using artificial intelligence, we also included a Face Analysis Feature which demanded a photo upload by the user and generated a customized product recommendation by Fabloox. This was an instant hit and made the UX more interesting.

Product Reviews Like Never Before

Videos of influencers from YouTube were sought, integrated and then shown against relevant beauty products.

Placing a product review just before the purchase made decision making easier for consumers and had a better conversion rate for brands.

This feature made Fabloox stand out as no other platform allowed people to learn from others’ experience while they make a purchase simultaneously.

Promotions

Banners were added which would promote discounts by other products.

Data Control

Control of data from affiliates was given to the client to filter shared information as per their choice. With our strong command over Node JS a robust and scalable app was produced.
